Latest Updates from Our Project:

We fulfilled Tasty Humans! (And if you need customer service, here's how you contact us.)
about 4 years ago – Tue, Jan 21, 2020 at 01:11:17 AM

Hey everyone!

We've finally made it to this glorious day! We have shipped the vast majority of the Kickstarter campaign rewards. While a few stragglers are still making their way through the international postage system and a few backers are confirming their addresses late, I'm comfortable saying that this Kickstarter has been fulfilled!

Many of you have already beat us to it, but if you haven't posted pictures of the game on Board Game Geek or social media, we encourage you to do so. We also encourage you to leave reviews of our game on Board Game Geek.

But just because the meal has been served doesn't mean the waiter's job is done. No, indeed. We will be providing customer service off and on for the next several months.

If You Need Customer Service...

Need to contact customer service? Fill out this simple form.

The most common customer service requests are going to be for damages, missing packages, and customs. So we're going to go ahead and address the most common issues here.

Damages: If your game arrived damaged, fill out our form and we'll send you a new one. Simple as that. All we request is that you tell us whether the game was damaged in shipping or whether it was a misprint.

Unexpected customs bill: We shipped all games from the US, however, we used a service called Asendia to pay customs on our customers' behalf, thus allowing us to ship from one location but remain customs-friendly. A handful of packages were shipped internationally without using Asendia, for reasons we're still looking into. About 5 or 6 people have sent me customs bills that they didn't expect. Our policy is to reimburse your bill in full. Just take a photo of the bill and send it to us through this form.

Missing package: If you're in the US and you filled out your backer survey on time, you should have your game now. Period. If you're outside of the US and filled out your backer survey on time, you should have your game by the end of the week. If you don't, fill out this form and we'll figure out what's going on and make it right

And just like that, our project comes to its natural conclusion. Now it's time to take care of customer service inquiries, plan an eCommerce launch, and maybe - just maybe - think about the next games to come.

Thank you for being with us through this entire journey. We quite literally could not have done it without you!

Stay hungry,

Tasty Humans arrived at the warehouse this morning & shipping has begun
about 4 years ago – Mon, Jan 06, 2020 at 11:33:00 PM

It was 10:52 am EST and the CEO of Fulfillrite personally sent me the images below. An hour and a half later, they were shipping. Can't make this stuff up, folks.

So apparently, while I was still working on my morning half-gallon of coffee, the games arrived in the warehouse, were unloaded, scanned in, stored in inventory, and - for a sizable portion of the campaign - retrieved from inventory, individually packed, given postage, and then finally shipped.

Many of you know that I provide marketing services for Fulfillrite and some of you have noticed I advertise them on my blog, too. But let's be real - this speaks for itself right here.

Between the beginning of order fulfillment and the time you're seeing this update, they have shipped over 70% of orders!

So when am I getting my game?

Ah, that's the $20,536 question, isn't it? International shipments went out first, and we default to the lowest-paid shipping option that doesn't bill you for customs. The remaining shipments should go out by the end of Wednesday.

If you're international: assume 2 weeks. If you don't see your game by the end of the month, contact us.

If you're in the US: assume 1 week. If you don't see your game in 2 weeks, contact us.

Get a customs bill? Contact us.

As part of the promise of this campaign, shipping is EU, Canada, Australia, and US-friendly. If you live in any of those regions and you receive a customs bill, please let us know and we'll take care of it. We're using a shipping service called Asendia Tracked Duties Paid to pay customs on your behalf before it arrives to your home. That said, slip-ups happen and I'm sure a few of you will get bills that you shouldn't get. So if that happens, contact us directly and we'll reimburse you.

And just like that, we're in the home stretch. The whole campaign is coming to a conclusion. Your hunger for this game will soon be sated.

Try not to wait by your mailbox. Neighbors will think it's weird.

The Games Cleared Customs & Are Headed to Fulfillrite
about 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 03, 2020 at 02:01:36 AM

Hey everyone,

When we last spoke, Tasty Humans was redirected somewhere between California and New Jersey for a customs exam. We didn't know why or how long it would take.

I'm pleased to report that the customs exam is now over! That's right - U.S. Customs is done playing Tasty Humans. The exam cost wasn't so bad (because we knew Customs would bill us and had money set aside for weird situations like this). What's more, we're thankful that this has only set us back time-wise about two weeks.

Next stop: Fulfillrite's warehouse. Next, next stop: your house.

At this point, I'm going to wait until the goods are safely in their warehouse to tell you when you can expect your game. What we do know is that the games should arrive in the warehouse on Monday or Tuesday. Having worked with Fulfillrite quite a bit, I can tell you that some Americans might even see the game by the end of the next week. Fingers crossed 🤞

So what was that last-minute customs hold-up about anyway?

Many of you believe the name Tasty Humans raised an eyebrow with U.S. Customs. I suspected more pedestrian issues, like a bad HS tariff code or an invoicing discrepancy.

Here's all I know...

Basically, none of us know why the delay happened for sure. And I'm okay with that. But maybe I'll contact the importer to find out why. What do you think?

Anyway, all good news to bring us into 2020.

Have a Hungry New Year!

Tasty Humans has been flagged for a customs exam - additional details coming as we learn more.
about 4 years ago – Fri, Dec 27, 2019 at 09:47:12 PM

This isn't the update I wanted to type right after Christmas, but it's an important one.

Customs & Border Patrol has flagged our shipment for a customs exam. We don't know why, but we know at least that the games have been shipped to a warehouse in New Jersey. This is not the fulfillment warehouse - it just happens to be close (which is good).

This is very surprising to us. It's not that customs exams are unusual - in fact, about 3-5% of shipments are flagged randomly. What's odd is that the goods already cleared the U.S. port of entry in Long Beach. (If you're curious about what customs exams involve, here is a good article on the subject.)

Here are the verbatim words from CaroTrans, the freight company responsible for shipping the inventory to our fulfillment warehouse in New Jersey:

This shipment was flagged for an exam by CBP.

I am in touch with a customs agent in NY that has posted the transfer, authorizing the move to an exam site close to the warehouse in New Jersey.

No further updates are available at this time. We will keep you posted with exam status and charges.

I've been following up with CaroTrans every 2-3 days for the last couple of weeks. I will continue to do so until the games arrive. As soon as we learn more, we'll tell you. If we don't have enough for a full update, we'll simply comment below this post.

In the meantime, all the documentation that Fulfillrite needs to ship your games once they arrive in their warehouse is ready to go. All your addresses and orders have already been uploaded into their system.

We are truly sorry about the delay. We are taking every step that we can to prevent further delays and to remain transparent. Just like you, I want a copy of this game in my hands!

The games are still clearing customs. New warehouse ETA: Christmas Eve!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Dec 16, 2019 at 07:19:37 PM

Hey everyone!

I'll keep this update brief today because I know many of you are super busy for the holidays!

Tasty Humans is still clearing customs. We've received the customs bill and are happy to report that we're not casualties of the US trade war with China. The bill came back a bit slower than we expected, but a lot lower than what we expected, too!

Per our freight forwarder, CaroTrans, the games are now set to arrive in the Fulfillrite warehouse on Christmas Eve, or Tuesday, December 24. Fulfillrite is open on that day, and, provided the games arrive early enough, they might even be able to receive stock and start shipping on the same day.

Based on the current timeline and a pinch of conservative estimation, games are likely to ship out on December 26 and December 27. That means most US residents would have them before New Year's Day. If you're outside of the US, add a week or two to that time.

I will reiterate: the estimates above depend on when inventory arrives in the warehouse. I'll be watching this shipment online like a hungry griffin until Fulfillrite receives it.

I'll check in once more when I have more info. Until then, Happy Holidays from the Tasty Humans Team!
